At Great Start K9 Obedience, I believe in the power of positive reinforcement training. I am an Animal Behavior College Certified, R+ trainer, and use reward-based techniques to encourage dogs to learn new behaviors and commands. I believe that training should be enjoyable for both dogs and their owners, and my methods reflect this belief.
As a member of HEARTland Positive Dog Training Alliance, I advocate positive, fear free training techniques.
🐾 I am an animal advocate: a voice for the voiceless 🐾
I offer behavior modification programs that are designed to help dogs overcome unwanted behaviors such as aggression*, separation anxiety, and fear. I use a combination of training techniques to help dogs learn new coping mechanisms and develop positive associations.
*Depending on the type/severity of aggression, you may be referred to a veterinary behaviorist before continuing training.
I am passionate about helping dogs and their owners, and am committed to providing excellent customer service, ensuring that both dogs and their owners feel comfortable and supported throughout the training process.
Age appropriate one on one obedience training for you and your puppy or adult dog:
•Life skills for puppies 2-5 months of age
•Basic Obedience for adolescent/adult dogs 6+ months of age, which will prepare your dog for CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Prep class. We will meet at the same day and time each week for the 6 weeks.
This group class focuses on the ten specific skills covered on the official AKC Canine Good Citizen test, and is open to all dogs that have successfully completed, at minimum, a basic obedience class.
The class is approximately one hour, and will meet at the same day and time each week for the 6 week course.
*Mandatory for all aggression/reactivity cases
**All payments are due in full at the first class**
As of 11/20/2024 I earned my Service Dog Trainer certification, and will be ready to offer this specialized training starting in January 2025.
Check back for the latest information as I organize my current schedule and curriculum to accomodate the necessary scheduling for this program. I will keep you updated!
My name is Meredith, and my passion is to help you better understand your dog's behaviors and what motivates them, and to help you learn how to clearly communicate your intentions so your dog can understand what is expected of them. My ultimate goal is to preserve and strengthen the dog/human bond in the home.
